Piano Tuning & Repair - Services

Tuning:
Pianos are unique in the way each is tuned. Using knowledge and experience I will create the best possible tuning on the concert stage, in the instution or the home. Piano manufacturers recommend two to four tunings a year, I recommend two for the average home depending on use. The movement of the soundboard caused by changes in humidity and playing cause the strings to vibrate at different frequencies changing the pitch.

Repairing:
With over 9,000 parts in the average piano occasional repairs may be needed to keep the piano working properly mechanically.

Regulating:
In order for the keys to play evenly the action or mechanical machine that make each key function will sometimes need to be adjusted because of the wearing of the parts due to friction, compression and humidity changes. Voicing refers to the manipulation of each hammer to produce the optimum or preferred quality of tone.

Rebuilding:
As everything mechanical will wear out over time, the rebuilding process (replacing of parts, regulating and voicing) of fine quality pianos is a cost effective way of turning a worn out piano into a musical instrument that will again produce excellent tone and touch.
